CraftED: From Pulp to Paper – Paper Making and Book Binding

From Pulp to Paper: Paper Making and Book Binding with Debra Frances and Helen O’Connor

Workshop Description:

Yukon visual artist Helen O’Connor and Winnipeg book artist Debra Frances will be hosting a two day workshop in conjunction with the Art of the Book traveling exhibition.

The first day will focus on paper making.  Participants will learn to form sheets of handmade paper with pulps made from various plants, weeds, oriental fibres, cotton linters and recycled papers. A variety of papers will be made which can be used as signature covers, end papers, covers or pages.

Papers will dry overnight and the second day we will explore various ways to incorporate these pages into books.
