Call for Submission for Members of the Manitoba Craft Council


The COVID-19 pandemic has radically changed the fundamental building blocks of how we live our lives and spend our days. From total lockdown, reopening and everything in between, the consistency and predictability of the future has never been so murky.

The Manitoba Craft Council invites members to submit work for our upcoming show Echoes: Living at a Distance, a non-juried member exhibition exploring life in a global pandemic.

Echoes: Living at a Distance will run January 7th, 2021 – February 26th, 2021 at the C2 Centre for Craft. 


Artwork drop-off will occur at the C2 Centre for Craft from 12-4 pm during the following dates:

December 9th-12th, 2020

Dec 16th-19th, 2020


Please note: Masks are required for entry into the C2 Centre for Craft at this time for the safety of staff and visitors. All staff members will wear masks while intaking artwork. 


What if there are in-person gathering restrictions?

In the case of in-person gathering restrictions preventing a traditional gallery show, staff will directly contact all artists via email or phone to arrange contactless drop-off. All artwork will be professionally photographed for an online exhibition on the C2 Centre for Craft website in 2021 in place of the exhibition at the C2 Centre for Craft.

To submit you will need to submit the following information by December 8th, 2020:


– Contact Information

– 250-word artist statement about your artwork and how it relates to the show topic

– sale or insurance cost of work

– a photograph of your work

– wall label information



-open to all current Manitoba Craft Council members (both regular and low-income)

-ONE piece of recent work may be submitted. Collaborative work is welcome pending it falls within the other submission criteria.

-work must be of original design; may be functional, decorative, or conceptual

-all craft-based media are welcome (eg. ceramics, textiles, wood, metal, glass, jewellery, paper, etc.)

-in order to include as many pieces as possible, please submit work that has dimensions no greater than 45cm x 45 x 45 cm and 6 lbs max.  Most works will be installed on the wall, with free-standing 3-dimensional works on floating shelves.  



-artists/craftspeople will receive a 60% commission for work sold during the exhibition

-all work will remain on display for the full duration of the show.  Work that is sold will be picked up by buyers at the exhibition’s end.  All unsold work will be picked up by the artist at the exhibition’s end.



MCC will be promoting the exhibition through its media and social media networks. All participating artists are encouraged to promote the exhibition widely through their social media and personal networks as well. Digital promotional materials will be provided.
