Eligibility
This competition is open all artists over the age of 18. All entries must be teapots composed primarily of ceramic materials completed by the artist within the last three years. Up to three entries may be submitted by each artist for the single registration price.
This competition is specifically aimed at small teapots. The teapot as a functional item is believed to have originated in China (perhaps the Yixing area) as a personal drinking vessel. As such, teapots were not large. Over time, the form evolved to suit the desires of the users. This show celebrates the origin and diversity of the teapot. In the spirit of these personal, functional items, all teapots entered in this competition shall not exceed a volume of 16 ounces (approximately 500 mL).
Entry Fee
A non-refundable fee of $50 (for up to three entries) must be received by the entry deadline. Payment should be made via the registration website (credit cards and PayPal are accepted).
Entry Procedure
Each entrant may submit up to three teapots. Selections for display in the show will be made from digital images. Two digital images will be accepted for each work. Please submit digital images as *.jpg of *.tiff files, preferred dimensions are five inches by eight inches at 300 dpi. These images will be submitted by download at the time of registration. The American Museum of Ceramic Art reserves the right to use images in promotional materials and the catalogue. Furthermore, the museum reserves the right to reject any work that differs from the digital image.
