Festival du Voyageur Arts Programme
Fort Gibraltar, Winnipeg
Festival du Voyageur is interested in finding artisans who are willing to present traditional arts and crafts to the public. This year we are developing a new style of programming for our visitors where they will be able to witness craftspeople at work and then participate in a series of workshops. We are looking for folks who are interested in sharing their art and crafts with the public, preserving traditional methods and passing down invaluable knowledge to future generations.
Please note that all of the demonstrations and workshops will be held at Fort Gibraltar during the Festival du Voyageur which takes place from February 15th-24th. We will be offering an honourarium for artisans as well as passes for the festival. Demonstrations and workshops will be chosen based upon their relevance to traditional crafts and trades practiced in the early years of the Red River settlement.
Time commitment: A 1 1/2 to 2 hour demonstration, followed by a 45 minute to 1 hour public workshop later in the afternoon
Honoraria/materials: Open to negotiation and dependent on the type of craft presented/duration of the workshops.
If you are interested in participating and would like more detailed information please feel free to get in touch with Colin Mackie before December 21st at 204-237-7692 ext 286.
