Each year a series of Juried Art Shows take place in the six regions of Manitoba (the Central, Eastman, Interlake, Norman, Parkland. and Westman Regions). These exhibitions are organized locally and open to all artists in the area. The exhibition juries are made up of professional Manitoba artists and the jury process is funded by the Manitoba Arts Council.
Artists in rural Manitoba are often isolated from each other and from the wider art world. They often have limited access to development opportunities and professional feedback on their work. These exhibitions are a welcome opportunity for the artists to have there work seen in their local communities as well a chance to have their work seen and critiqued at a professional level.
Additional services in the exhibition host communities are also often available in connection with the Art Shows, including presentations and workshops by the jury artists. Prize winning works from the Regional Juried Art Shows are selected each year for Manitoba Art Network’s Rural & Northern Art Show in Winnipeg.
