The Manitoba Craft Council presents the 4th annual
Handmade Holiday
Sale of Fine Contemporary Craft
Friday, November 22, 5-10 pm
Saturday, November 23, 10 am-5 pm
Frame Art Warehouse, 311 Ross St.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 13, 2013
The Manitoba Craft Council (MCC) is inviting applications for its fifth annual Handmade Holiday Sale of Contemporary Craft. A sale committee will review applications and select approximately 15 craft-based artists to participate in this unique two-day sale.
The MCC is seeking craftwork that is innovative and original in design and that showcases excellence in technique, materials and aesthetics. The sale is geared towards a discerning audience that appreciates unique handmade objects, looks forward to meeting the artists who create them, and is willing to pay a fair price for the highest quality work. The sale is an excellent opportunity for craft-based artists to share their passion for their chosen craft practices, introduce visitors to their work, make connections for future commissions, network with other craft artists, and sell work.
Functional, decorative and/or conceptual work in any craft-based media are welcome. Acceptable media may include ceramics, fibre, metal, paper, stone, glass, and wood. Consumables are not eligible at this time (ie. food, soap, candles, etc.)
How to apply:
Sale participants will be selected based on digital images of their work. Applicants are asked to submit 8-10 images of their work that is representative of what they will be selling at the event. Use jpeg files with a resolution of 72 dpi, with images’ height or width (whichever is larger) close to 12 in., but not larger. Please number each image and provide a corresponding image list (see below). Images sent via email are preferred; CDs are also acceptable.
In addition to the images, please include:
-your name, address, phone number and email address
-a numbered list of your images including title or name of object, media, and approx. price (ie. wine goblet, porcelain, $45)
-a brief artist statement describing your work or practice (50 word max.)
-indicate whether a full or half table is preferred and if an electrical outlet is required for your display
Applicants will be notified of results by October 4, 2013.
No application fee. Craft artists selected for the sale must be current Manitoba Craft Council members.
Table fees $60.
Approximate table size 2.5 x 8 feet.
Visa/Mastercard/debit access through a common till.
Artists must participate in both sale days, in the hours noted above.
Applications may be emailed to submissions@localhost:8888 (please write Handmade Holiday – Your Name in the subject line) or mailed to the Manitoba Craft Council, 553-70 Arthur St, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 1G7.
