Value for the Handmade

Exhibit Information

In 2014 MCML is celebrating the value of craft in society.  Do you have a story about how craft is important in your life, or the lives of your parents, grandparents, children, siblings, cousins or friends?  Is there a piece of craft that represents your family?  It there a handcrafted piece in your family that is essential for a holiday celebration? Has craft enhanced your life?  Saved your life?  Improved your health?  Does it help you connect with your community, culture or religion?  Why is craft important to you?  Does it help you economically?  Has craft helped to teach your child?

MCML wants to know!  The exhibit will celebrate the many ways in which craft enhances our contemporary society that often rejects the handmade in favour of manufactured goods or computer generated perfection.
