MCC Presents :: First Fridays in the Exchange
Featuring Laura Leblanc
Opening on Friday, April 4, 5-9 pm
Manitoba Craft Council office – 553-70 Arthur St.
Work on display until April 25, 2014.
About her work and background, Laura writes:
I am the owner of Laura’s European Jewellery, a business I opened in 2009. My experience in jewellery started 23 years ago in a small industrial city in Romania, where I enrolled in a 2 year goldsmithing program. Only months after completing the program, my family and I came to Canada where I went back to school to learn English and to complete high school. From that time onwards I have worked for the best and most well known jewellery stores in Winnipeg (Al’s Jewellers, Independent Jeweller’s, Appelt’s Diamonds) while getting my Graduate Gemmologist status from GIA (Gemmological Institute of America).
My passion for creating lingered inside, so while I was working full time and raising my daughter, I made the decision to focus on my own jewellery business. I have never felt more fulfilled in my life! The feeling I get each time I finished a piece of jewellery is indescribable. Now is time to take the next step by putting myself out there and letting others into the wonderful world I been living in.
First Fridays in the Exchange is dedicated to bringing together artists, artist run centres, galleries, businesses and the public for a greater understanding, appreciation and promotion of the arts and the further development of a vital Exchange Area community. See the full listings here.
