First Friday with Connie Chappel

Friday, October 3, 2014, 5-9 pm
at the Manitoba Craft Council office
553-70 Arthur St.
About her art practice, Connie writes:
Much of my work uses the natural environment as a commonplace passage as well as mystification for exploring cycles of life. Using mixed media sculpture and assemblage, I highlight, restructure, and relocate basic elements that reference familiar landscape and body topography to fuse memory of the environment with life experiences. Branch, rock, earth, and body become contemplative and launch the imagination. My artistic meditations are grounded in universal processes that animate the world and bring together harshness of disease with tenderness of nurture and care, and conflate the ebb and flow within the natural world with that of human life.
