The Manitoba Craft Council is pleased to be able to team up with the Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library to present this year’s juried exhibition of contemporary craft, Backspace Forward. As the title suggests, works included in the show play in the interstices of time, drawing on historical craft traditions and techniques and teasing out their relevance and potential for contemporary art and craft making. The exhibition features work by MCC members Tracy Fehr, Dana Kletke, Mimi Mirus, Keith Oliver, Paul Robles, Elizabeth Roy, Wendy Seversen, Gaetanne Sylvester, Diana Thorneycroft, Peter Tittenberger, Cathie Ugrin, and Melanie Wesley. The twelve historical pieces that inspired the exhibition will also be on display.
Thanks to the Pembina Hills Arts Centre for providing another wonderful venue for this show. Backspace Forward was made possible through the generous support of: the Manitoba Arts Council, the Province of Manitoba (Arts Branch), and trustees of the Judith Ryan Memorial Award.
