about the prize
The intent of the Salt Spring National Art Prize (SSNAP) is to encourage artists whose practice demonstrates originality, quality, integrity and creativity, resulting in significant work with a real visual impact and depth of meaning. This exciting endeavour is an initiative of the Salt Spring Arts Council (SSAC), which represents the arts for Salt Spring Island. The Finalist exhibition will be held on the island from 25 September through 26 October 2015.
Entries must be submitted using the online entry form which will be posted on this site by 15 January 2015. Entries will be accepted between 15 January and 31 May 2015.
Entrants may submit up to three works for adjudication, however only one work may be selected for exhibition. Each work submitted constitutes a separate entry. Please complete a separate online entry form for each work entered.

4. artist statement
Statement about the work (maximum 100 words), with the title of the work and the image filename(s) as a heading. The Artist statement must not include the artist’s name.
The SSAC/SSNAP reserve the right to edit artist statements exceeding the 100 word limit. All expenses incurred in the submission of the entry are the responsibility of the artist.

Acceptable formats – JPEG only
Dimensions – minimum 1500 pixels on longest side
Maximum file size – 24MB
Each image filename must comprise the title of the work or part thereof, followed by a number (if more than one image is uploaded per entry).
Example – Still_Life_With_Apples.jpg / Still_Life_With_Apples_2.tif
Photographic images must accurately represent entered artworks in terms of colour, detail and texture. If accepted work does not conform to the uploaded image it may be refused for exhibition. The SSAC/SSNAP reserve the right to return unacceptable work at the artist’s expense.
