Saturday, May 1 – Monday, September 30, 2015
Thank you for your interest in entering the Art Quilt Elements 2016 exhibit.
International applications are encouraged and welcomed.
The exhibition dates are March 18 to April 28, 2016 and will be held at the Wayne Art Center, 413 Maplewood Avenue, Wayne. PA 19087.
AQE 2016 is the 12th exhibition of this internationally acclaimed show set in suburban Philadelphia. “One of the distinctions of our show is our professional presentation of art quilts. The exhibition has been widely praised by reviewers and artists not only for exhibiting the quilts in our gallery settings but also for promoting the art quilt as an art form” stated Nancy Campbell, Executive Director of the Wayne Art Center.
The Juror
We are privileged to have Bruce W. Pepich, Executive Director and Curator of Collections, Racine Art Museum in Racine, Wisconsin jury the 2016 Art Quilt Elements submissions and select the exhibition awards.
Pepich earned a BA in art history from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois in 1974. Later that year he was hired as a Project Manager at the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts, and became its director in 1980. Since then, Pepich has grown the museum into a two-site institution, raising more than 10 million dollars in a capital campaign to open the Racine Art Museum (RAM), an off-shoot of Wustum, with an award-winning new building in downtown Racine.
In addition to organizing groundbreaking exhibitions and publications, under his leadership, RAM has expanded its craft collection to be one of the largest in the country that includes seminal works like Toshiko Takaezu’s Star Series. Pepich has received the Ann Koski Professional Excellence Award from the Wisconsin Federation of Museums (2010), the Governor’s Award in Support of the Arts from the Wisconsin Foundation for the Arts and Governor Jim Doyle of the State of Wisconsin (2010), and the Wisconsin Visual Art Lifetime Achievement Award from the Museum of Wisconsin Art, Wisconsin Visual Arts, and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters (2011).
Pepich will judge the work based on its technique, design, originality and craftsmanship.
