The Emerging Artist Showcase is an opportunity for emerging artists to get their work shown and build their resume. Fiber Art Now is interested in seeing the latest techniques and ideas from emerging fiber artists and showing them to the world.
What is the Emerging Artist Showcase?
The Emerging Artist Showcase gives emerging artists the opportunity to have their work shown in Fiber Art Now , international magazine for contemporary fiber art & textiles. The final selection of works will be curated by Marcia Young, editor-in-chief and will be shown in the Fall, 2016 issue of Fiber Art Now , which will be released September 1, 2016 and sold on over 600 newsstands in the US, Canada, and the UK.
What do we consider fiber art?
Art that is created using natural or synthetic fibers or techniques that are traditionally thought of as relating to fiber, such as sewing or weaving. Only one of these – fiber materials or fiber techniques – must be present for work to fall into the broad category known as “fiber art.” While contemporary fiber art is often preoccupied with materiality and technique, it’s important to also remember that the best work in fiber, like any medium, has observations, themes, or concepts at its core.

Who is an emerging artist?
- Artists who are currently enrolled in graduate or undergraduate studies.
- Artists who have started working in fibers within the last five years.
Is age a factor in determining eligibility?
No.

Entry Fee: $20.00
You may enter multiple times. There is a $20 fee for each application. To enter a second artwork, please submit a new application.

I agree to permit the image, or detail image(s), and/or all or part of my statement of my entry to be used in articles, ads, promotions, catalogs, books, websites (including any webcast coverage), CDs, current event news coverage, television productions, and/or multi-media productions for and about Fiber Art Now. Artists maintain ownership of the copyright on their images.
Registration
Registration is now open. The last day to register is August 1, 2016 until midnight CDT.
When you have completed your registration be sure to print a copy of the confirmation page for your records.
