Hours: 16 hours weekly
Wage: $16/hour

Context
The Manitoba Craft Council (MCC) is a member-centered, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting contemporary craft in Manitoba for over 35 years. The ideal candidate for this position will have proven administrative/organizational skills and a sophisticated understanding of contemporary craft. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively, think creatively, and demonstrate professionalism. They “play well with others,” enjoy the behind the scenes tasks that keep an organization running smoothly and efficiently, and are knowledgeable public ambassadors for craft and its makers.
This position is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a thriving arts organization during a period of exciting growth and change. Together with a part-time Director, the Administrative and Programme Assistant will work towards MCC’s mandate of promoting, supporting and advocating for contemporary craft in Manitoba in a new facility in Winnipeg’s Exchange District.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, the Administrative and Programme Assistant will be responsible for:
-implementing and promoting MCC’s programming activities including: exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, etc.
-day to day operational and office management tasks including financial tracking
-providing administrative support to the Director and MCC Board
-responding to phone, email and in person inquiries with professionalism, care and encouragement
-welcoming and assisting facility visitors
-production of the bi-weekly e-news, updating website and overseeing social media
-membership services
-supporting fundraising initiatives
-volunteer coordination
-other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-good organizational and office management skills
-excellent oral and written communication skills
-self-directed and collaborative
-proficiency with Excel, Word, WordPress, and Quickbooks in a MAC environment
-able to work to deadlines and multi-task during busy periods
-able to work varying hours including some evenings and weekends
-an understanding of the role of contemporary craft and visual arts in the community
