Programme Coordinator
Manitoba Craft Council (MCC)
20 hours per week, some evening and weekend hours
$16-17/hour (depending on experience) + 3 weeks vacation/year
MCC seeks a Programme Coordinator who will be responsible for the implementation, administration, facilitation, and supervision of most aspects of MCC exhibitions, workshops, artist talks and other programming. They will engage with visitors and volunteers at C2 Centre for Craft and assist with fundraising events and initiatives. The ideal candidate for this position will have proven programming skills and a sophisticated understanding of contemporary craft. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively, think creatively, and act with professionalism. They are knowledgeable and friendly public ambassadors for craft and its makers.
This position is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a thriving arts organization during an exciting period of growth. The successful candidate will have strong skills in the areas of programme development, written and oral communication, leadership, time-management, organization and interpersonal relations. They must have excellent knowledge of contemporary craft and the visual arts, and a history of engagement with the arts community. Experience working in an artist-run centre and pre-existing knowledge of MCC is important.
MCC is a member driven organization dedicated to promoting, supporting and advocating for fine contemporary craft in Manitoba. Founded in 1978, MCC currently has about 200 members. MCC provides exhibition, sales, and networking opportunities, workshops, artist talks, mentorship and collaborative projects. Staff is comprised of a half-time Director, a part-time Communications and Administration Coordinator, and a half-time Programme Coordinator. The MCC shares a facility and works in close partnership with the Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library at the C2 Centre for Craft. C2 is wheelchair accessible.
