C2 Centre for Craft
Retail Shop
Call for Submissions
DEADLINE: October 15, 2019
The C2 Shop features beautiful work made by professional, local craftspeople. The inventory is selected through a semi-annual, juried process and accepted on consignment basis with 40% of sales retained as commission and 60% paid to the artist.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will consist of two steps:
Step 1:
Submission of digital images and supporting documents to be reviewed by the jury.
Submit the following via email to [email protected]:
1. 6-10 jpeg images of work you would like to consign to the C2 shop (300 dpi, approx 10 x 10 in.)
2. PDF including:
a. your contact info: name, address, phone number, email address
b. image list with titles, media, and retail prices
c. links to your website and professional social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Etsy, etc.)
d. 100 word artist bio
e. an average price range of your work (eg. $20-200)
Applicants will be notified of results by November 15, 2019.
Step 2:
Those selected for inclusion in the C2 retail shop will be invited to present a selection of their work to members of the jury at an in-person meeting. The jury will select pieces for inclusion in the C2 retail shop, a consignment agreement will be signed, and work will be taken into C2 inventory at that time. Meetings will be scheduled at mutually convenient times throughout November 2019. For northern or rural artists, alternative arrangements may be made on an individual basis.
ELIGIBILITY
Submissions will be accepted from current Manitoba Craft Council and Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library members.
Craft artists will be selected based on the artistic merit, excellence in design and form, innovation and functionality of their work (where the object has an intended function), and perceived saleability. Original work in any craft-based medium is welcome: ceramic, fibre, metal, paper, recycled material, stone, glass and wood. In addition, mixed media and interdisciplinary works that are primarily craft-based in material and/or technique are welcome. Work may be functional, decorative, or conceptual. Consumables including candles, soaps and cosmetics, and food are not eligible at this time.
