The Manitoba Craft Council (MCC) is a member-centered, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting contemporary fine craft in Manitoba. Located in the C2 Centre for Craft, MCC presents exhibitions, artist talks, workshops and events related to contemporary craft.

 

The MCC is seeking a craft or visual arts focused University graduate to fill the internship position of Programme Assistant. The primary role of the Programme Assistant is to support the MCC’s May the Land Remember You exhibition and symposium centred around Indigenous beading traditions, slated for January-February 2020. The overarching goal of May the Land is to help foster dialogue and understanding about Indigenous beading traditions, an art form that is central to Indigenous communities in Manitoba.

 

Graduates in the fields of Craft, Visual Arts, Curatorial/Museum Studies, Arts Education or Arts Management will receive training and mentoring in valuable skills related to arts administration and project management. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively, think creatively, act responsibly and demonstrate professionalism.

 

Responsibilities of the Programme Assistant will include: assisting with Symposium registration, assisting with event promotion in print and online, arranging travel, accommodations, and food for Symposium speakers and registrants, administrative support to the organizing committee, organizing ground transportation to Symposium venues, preparing registrant packages, financial tracking, assisting with final reports.

 

Eligibility:

-Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old, and and legally eligible to work in Canada.

-Applicants must be a recent graduate who has graduated from college or university with 24 months of the start of employment, be unemployed or underemployed, not have participated or been paid in another Young Canada Works or Career Focus internship
