Digital Critique with Tricia Wasney
Needing to connect with your community? The Manitoba Craft Council will be hosting a free digital critique on Wednesday April 15th, 2020 at 7pm. Our digital critique is a great way to talk to other makers about what is happening in your studio, get some feedback, ask for advice, or just “talk craft”. Participants can register on our website to reserve a slot. Simply email in images of the work to be critiqued, and our staff will send you a link to the video conference on Zoom and images of the artworks to be critiqued. Both finished and in-progress works in any medium are welcome.
Email artwork photos to [email protected] by April 13th, 2020.

Tricia Wasney is a Winnipeg jewellery artist who uses recycled sterling silver, 24k gold foil, brass, and hand-felted wool in her hand-made rings, earrings, neckpieces, bracelets, and brooches. She uses heat and a variety of other methods to create texture, pattern and colour. Tricia’s jewellery is influenced by the landscape and, in addition to her retail work, she creates narrative jewellery-based artwork that explores memory, notions of home and place, and social and environmental issues.
“My jewellery often looks distressed; I like to think of it appearing as though a contemporary piece was unearthed from a long stay underground where it was worked upon by organic elements.”
Her work Township 13, a re-imagining of an air photo map and sixteen wearable jewellery pieces, will be included in the Lens Reflex exhibition at the Manitoba Craft Council, scheduled for spring/summer 2020.
Tricia learned jewellery making skills in Winnipeg and in New York City and has participated in artist residencies in Belfast, Northern Ireland and in Churchill, Manitoba. She will be serving as a mentor in the MAWA Foundation Mentorship Program in Fall 2020.
