Call for Submissions: In Solitude, Unity

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 10TH 2020

Arts AccessAbility Network Manitoba (AANM) is calling all Deaf and disabled artist to submit artwork fora juried exhibition with an opening reception on Nuit Blanche Winnipeg 2020. The theme for the exhibition is “In Solitude, Unity”.

Often those with disabilities are isolated from the larger community as a result of physical or social barriers. With the need to self-isolate during the pandemic, the general community has experienced the solitude that those with disabilities often face in their daily lives. This experience has made the larger community more aware of the issues faced by those with disabilities and we are beginning to see more accessibility being offered, such as curb side pickups, online exhibitions and presentations, home deliveries, etc. This exhibition hopes to celebrate the unity that the disability community has experienced with the larger population as we have all had to live in solitude these last few months. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme as they wish. Artist fees will be paid to chosen artists.

Images of the selected works will be projected onto the side of the AANM office building at 329 Cumberland Ave. for Nuit Blanche and will be part of an online exhibition. All artwork will be professionally photographed by AANM and must be delivered to the office by September 21st 2020 to accommodate the photo shoot.
