For the Spring/Summer 2023 issue, Studio is looking for articles with fresh new takes on the political economy of labour in craft and making, and how material and intangible value is accumulated through labour.
This can include the labour involved in all stages of production, or the labour involved after production, in displays, marketing, sales, etc… Studio is curious about who undertakes which forms of labour at various stages, and how is that labour valued, exploited, compensated? What rights are involved in the labour of craft? How is labour affected by identity politics: age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity? What forms of non-human labour are included in craft — biological processes, technological innovations, animal contributions?
