Manitoba Craft Council, in partnership with IKEA Winnipeg, is excited to present a new three-day holiday market set in the style of a cozy Swedish village at Christmas time. Located within the “self-serve warehouse” section of IKEA, this festive market features 20 local craftspeople, each supplied with their own stall. Market admission is free, and the spirit of the event is one of family-friendly gift-giving.
The market will be promoted as part of a national IKEA initiative, with holiday events taking place across the country. It will be highlighted on IKEA’s website, social media, and through their newsletter reaching 160,000 IKEA Family Members in Manitoba, presenting a unique opportunity to reach a broad audience that values beautiful design.
Submissions of original work in any craft-based medium are welcome. Applications that connect to IKEA’s five “Democratic Design” principles – function, form, quality, sustainability, and affordability – will be an excellent fit for this opportunity. Participating artists will be chosen by a selection committee made up of MCC staff, board members, and IKEA representatives.
