The Winnipeg Public Library is excited to share that we have a new Makers-in-Residence (MiR) program and are currently recruiting two artists/makers to act as simultaneous Makers-in-Residence from December 5, 2022 to March 31, 2023 (14-weeks). The program will run out of the ideaMILL on the 3rd floor of the Millennium Library.
During their residency, each MiR will:
- Offer weekly, scheduled drop-in hours in the ideaMILL that allow them to create and share their skills on-site with library visitors.
- Create and deliver a minimum of 3 workshops in the ideaMILL, teaching their skillset to participants. One of these workshops will be a school mentorship with a 7-12 class.
- Define and deliver a participatory and collaborative art piece that includes stories gathered from the community. This art piece will commemorate the effect of the pandemic on our lives, and/or look toward emergence and post-pandemic life.
Each MiR will receive a stipend of $9800 ($1400 biweekly over 14-week term) and a monthly budget of $500 for supplies. Workshops and activities will be delivered between January 9 and March 19, 2023.
Related details and a link to apply are available on the MiR Program website. Please note: Applications will be accepted until November 4, 2022.
