Communications and Exhibition Archives Intern
Term: Sept 11, 2023–March 28, 2024
Hours: 10 hrs/week for 28 weeks (two 5 hour afternoon shifts per week, during Wed–Sat public hours; Saturday shifts required)
Wage: $16/hr

The Manitoba Craft Council (MCC) is about craft: its makers and materials. We’re a member–centered, non–profit dedicated to promoting and supporting contemporary craft in Manitoba. Located in the C2 Centre for Craft in Winnipeg’s Historic Exchange District, MCC presents exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, sales, and events related to contemporary craft. We also have a shop (physical and online) featuring work by over 70 Manitoba–based craft artists. You are a post–secondary student with a passion for craft, art, and/or culture. You are keen to use your communication skills and training to tell the world about this province’s amazing craftspeople and the work they do. You are a creative and effective written communicator who is collaborative and self–motivated. You have an eye for graphic design and a superior attention to detail. You’re ambitious and excited to gain valuable, hands–on communications experience within a thriving arts organization. One–on–one training and mentoring will help you grow your skills and enjoy a positive work experience.
–creating virtual exhibitions of MCC’s extensive archive of exhibition catalogues and images
–creating social media, newsletter, and web content to promote contemporary craft and craftspeople in Manitoba
–creating social media, newsletter, and web content to promote MCC events and initiatives
–engaging shop and gallery visitors
–assisting at C2 Centre for Craft and MCC events including Crafted at the WAG and MCC’s Vinterfest Sale at IKEA
–assisting at fundraising events and shop initiatives
–light housekeeping and janitorial duties
–planning and execution of the Student Holiday Sale at C2
–other duties as assigned
Eligibility:
–Applicants must be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the law
–Applicants must be registered as students in a recognized Canadian PSE institution in a field of study related to the internship
