Manitoba Craft Council, in partnership with IKEA Winnipeg, is excited to present its third annual three-day holiday market set in the style of a cozy Swedish village at Christmas time. Located within the “self-serve warehouse” section of IKEA, this festive market will feature 20 local craftspeople, each supplied with their own stall or table. Market admission is free for visitors, and the spirit of the event is one of family-friendly  gift-giving. The market will be promoted through MCC’s social media and newsletters with an announcement in IKEA’s Family Members newsletter as well. With approximately 20,000 visitors coming through the store on an average weekend, this sale presents a unique opportunity to reach a broad audience that values beautiful design.

Submissions of original work in any craft-based medium are welcome. Applications that connect to IKEA’s five “Democratic Design” principles – function, form, quality, sustainability, and affordability – will be an excellent fit for this opportunity. Participating artists will be chosen by a selection committee made up of MCC staff, peer adjudicators, and IKEA representatives.

MARKET HOURS
Vendors and/or their representatives must be on site for the full duration of the event.
Friday, December 13, 10 am – 8 pm
Saturday, December 14, 10 am – 7 pm
Sunday, December 15, 10 am – 6 pm
(Set up on Thursday, December 12, evening, exact hours TBA)

FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS
All sales must be made through digital payment only. No cash sales will be permitted. All sales will be processed by individual vendors who will retain 100% of the proceeds from their sales.

ELIGIBILITY
This opportunity is open to Manitoba Craft Council members only. Click here to become an MCC member.

BOOTH SET-UP
With the intention of creating a Swedish village holiday market feel, vendors are to be supplied with a physical booth to populate with their sale items. More details on the dimensions and
design of this year’s booths will be forthcoming. Please note that custom display structures in lieu of a booth will not be suitable for this event. We ask that all vendors contain their display within the footprint of their booth. Electrical access may be provided upon request.

COST (paid after successful acceptance into the IKEA-MCC holiday market)
$105 – all vendor fees are retained by the MCC and used to support local craft artists and initiatives.

PROMOTION
For consistent messaging and to widen the promotional reach, artists will be provided with promotional materials expected to publicize the event through your own contacts and social media channels. It is understood and agreed by the participating craft artists that images and biographical information submitted with this application may be used for promotional
purposes.
