MCC Student Craft Sale

The Manitoba Craft Council is pleased to host a Student Craft Sale featuring work by post secondary students working in craft based media. Our goal for this event is to provide a venue for students working in craft media to connect directly with the public, generate revenue from the sale of craft work, and introduce a new audience to the C2 Centre for Craft.

Eligible Work:
Anything handmade or created using craft materials and techniques. Items may be one of a kind artworks or functional items. Examples of craft media include: ceramics, beadwork, textiles, metalwork, printmaking on handmade paper or textiles, jewelry, woodworking, and bookbinding.
Ineligible Work: drawings, paintings, photography, assemblage sculpture, digital prints, edible/consumable items, body care products, etc.
Cost/MCC Membership:
All accepted vendors must have a student membership to the Manitoba Craft Council. You do not need a membership to apply, but one must be purchased in advance of the sale to participate. The cost of a student membership is $30. There is no additional table fee to participation and students will enjoy other membership benefits as well. Key Dates/Times:
Sale: November 16th, 2024,12-4 pm
Set up: November 16th,11am-12 pm
Take down: November 16th, 4-4:30 pm
Artists or an artist representative must be on site for the full duration of the sale.
MCC will provide:
-a table (approx half a table, 2.5 x 8’ or 2.5 x 6’ per person)
-tablecloth
-chairs
-packaging materials for purchased items such as gift bags and boxes
-promotional materials and marketing of the event
-simple signage with your name on it
-common till (ie. cash float and point of sale system to process payments with credit or debit)
-marketing materials to promote the sale through their own channels
-light refreshments for visitors and vendors
Common Till and Commission:
MCC will process all payments through our point of sale system and issue payments for artists by cheque within 10 days of the sale. Artists will be paid 80% commission for all works sold. The 20% retained by the MCC will cover packaging materials, costs of marketing materials, fees for point of sale system, etc.

You will be asked to provide:
-Preferred Name + Pronouns
-Given Name (if different, for issuing cheques post-sale)
-Mailing Address
-Phone Number
-Email Address (main form of communication)
-Artist Bio
-3-5 images of work that is representative of the work you intend to sell
Notification of acceptance:
All applicants will be notified of application results by end of day November 1, 2024.
Promotion:
MCC will promote the sale through our social media accounts and e-newsletters. Students will be provided with digital promotional materials and encouraged to promote the sale within their networks.
About Google Forms:
-Google forms will send a copy of your submission to the email address you’ve entered once you have submitted your application. Please note: It can take a couple of minutes for a submission to go through via Google Forms if your images are quite large. Wait for the page to change to a message, “Your response has been recorded.” If you do not receive this message, please confirm with our office or via email that we received your application.
