Artist Talk with Dr. Sari Hannila and Sacha Kopelow

Our hands and heads work together when we are making art. More importantly, our brain allows us to plan and initiate creative work, directing our hands and bodies in every movement until a piece is finished.

Join Neuroscientist Sari Hannila and artist Sacha Kopelow as they discuss Kopelow’s work in the exhibition Crafting Wellness -mind + body … at a cost.

What happens in the art making process when disabled makers’ physical characteristics inhibit or prohibit mobility? How is their artwork impacted? How does the brain respond? These ideas will be explored as Sari Hannila and Sacha Kopelow discuss Kopelow’s groupings of glass figures; some alert, some in quiet repose, and others in direct response to the artist’s own health and wellness journey.
