Elizabeth Sellors lives and works creatively in Winnipeg. Her creative endeavours span design, art, craft and writing. It was through her programs at the University of Manitoba studying interior Design and Fine Arts, that her interests in artistic self-expression were honed. In large part, it was her fascination with art history and philosophy that enabled her to develop an understanding of the emotional connection that exists between the artist, the work and the viewer. Her work covers a wide range of subjects from portraiture and landscapes, to sculptural projects expressed through the mediums of wood and metal, to writing articles with a view to human impact on natural habitats. As both a Master Gardener and Arborist, inspirations for her work invariably are drawn from nature. Writing is a passion with subjects specific to plants, trees and their relationship to the natural world. Her mixed-medium craft pieces are often complex and range in scale from large wall-art to small, wearable pendants. She was recognized for her portraiture work, with a recent commission by Manitoba Hydro that took her to Fox Lake Cree Nation, Bird, Manitoba to paint a portrait of Elder, Samson Dick. Her work can be found in several private collections in Manitoba. She has exhibited her art and craft work in group and solo gallery exhibitions in Winnipeg.
