My primary interest is the vessel form, which for me, echoes the human body. My creative process begins on the wheel and the clay is then altered, carved and burnished to achieve the desired shape and surface quality.I became interested in alternative firings early on in my experimentation and continue to perfect the art of smoke firing, also known as sawdust firing. I choose not to glaze my work, using oxides and organic material to create colour and pattern. Ultimately, it is the magic of the fire that determines the final product.
