Postcard
Set of 35 unused postcards with black and white photos of French lace in different regional styles, particularly Argentan lace. A small town in Normandy, Argentan lacemakers were known for dense, intricate designs that were popular with the nobility in the mid-18th century. An expensive luxury, Argentan lace fell out of favour during the French Revolution but was revitalized in the late 19th century.
