Carol James

  • Fibre

Carol James has been exploring off-loom techniques for 30 years. She likes portable methods such as fingerweaving and sprang, and figures that anywhere is a good place to weave. She has examined articles in collections across North America and Europe and has created replicas for the Manitoba Museum, Parks Canada, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, and the Norwegian Armed Forces Museum. A very patient teacher, she has taught weaving in Canada, the US, England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. She is author of two books: Fingerweaving Untangled and Sprang Unsprung.
