Ysa Aguinaldo

  • Ceramics
  • Glass

Ysa Aguinaldo is a multidisciplinary artist working across ceramics, stained glass, and glass fusing, and the artist behind Just for Fun Ceramics & Glass. She creates colourful, playful, and functional pieces that bring warmth, personality, and joy into everyday spaces. She also teaches ceramics and stained glass at Just for Fun Craft Studio, where she leads hands-on workshops in a welcoming, community-focused environment that encourages creativity and exploration.

Alongside her studio practice, Ysa is a public school educator teaching Woodworking Manufacturing and Visual Arts. She graduated from Red River College Polytechnic and the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts, and a Diploma in Industrial Arts & Technology, specializing in woodworking, graphic arts, metalworking, construction, and electronics. Her background in industrial arts continues to shape her practical, process-driven approach to both teaching and making.

Ysa previously taught ceramics at the Winnipeg Art Gallery–Qaumajuq and the Forum Art Centre, experiences that deepened her commitment to arts education and creative community building.

Rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and play, Ysa’s practice celebrates craftsmanship and the creative process, encouraging people to engage with art without fear of imperfection. Whether working with clay or glass, she aims to create accessible, meaningful experiences filled with colour, connection, and joy.

The C2 Centre for Craft  is located in what we now know as Manitoba, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Dene, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Inuit Peoples, and the national homeland of the Red River Métis. These lands include territory subject to Treaties 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10.

Craft occupies a space that has the hand and the handmade at its centre. It rejoices in sharing knowledge and solving problems. It stems from, creates, and nurtures community. It allows us to build bridges through shared action, but also fosters courage, empathy, and connection.

We acknowledge the deep harm caused by settlement, and we look forward to using craft in our efforts towards reconciliation and positive change.
