Bison Hair Mittens, Scarf and Mat

In 1942, at the height of WWII, sheep’s wool was difficult to come by, so a group of women from the Crafts Guild experimented with bison wool. After getting permission to pick fleece off of the fences at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, these women cleaned, carded, spun and dyed 1.5 pounds of yarn.
