Manitoba artisan Jean McMurray conceived the idea for her line of dolls in the early 1960s when she was a young mother up all night with a baby. Dressed in typical Manitoba winter wear, this doll’s scarf is knitted and her jacket was inspired by a Hudson’s Bay blanket. The body was fashioned from wire wrapped in wool and glued to a platform of cork. The doll’s face is made of fabric, painted and stitched, and the skate blade is made of a paper clip. Jean has also taught a variety of workshops in the Winnipeg area.
