Metal Arts Guild of Canada 2013 Juried Exhibition

METAL ARTS GUILD of CANADA
2013 BIENNIAL JURIED EXHIBITION
The Metal Arts Guild of Canada invites members of the Guild to submit current work to our 2013 biennial juried exhibition, Design Sans Frontières: Metal Artists In Collaboration.
Opening during Meta Mosaic, the 2013 SNAG Conference, Design Sans Frontières will be showcased in the main floor gallery of the Design Exchange, Canada’s Design Museum.
Digital design and fabrication processes are erasing the old distinctions between designers and makers, craft and industry. At the same time, we yearn for the unique connection between culture, material and making that has traditionally defined craft.
The fact is that creativity knows no borders. We invite collaborative duos to submit works that integrate the materials and techniques of metal arts and other creative disciplines. We encourage teams that explore ways to combine traditional and new modes of making and design in the metal arts.
Metal artists can draw in a collaborator from any other creative field: ceramics, glassblowing, architecture, graphic design, literature, dance: all forms of collaboration are valid, all collaborative efforts are welcome.
Each two-person team is responsible for its own conceptual development and production of the finished piece that is submitted for jurying.
Fees:
The entry fee is $50, payable with Visa, MasterCard or Paypal. The entry fee covers a maximum of three works, and covers both members of the collaborative partnership. The entry fee is nonrefundable.
At least one member of the collaboration must belong to the Metal Arts Guild of Canada. To become a member of MAGC, visit: www.metalartsguild.ca/page/guild-members-1
Jurying:
The work selected for exhibition will be chosen by a jury composed of prominent Canadian metal artists, designers and gallery curators. The Jury will be announced on the MAGC website in December 2012, together with instructions regarding the on-line jurying process.
