While I had seen his name on MCC’s lifetime honorary member list many times, I met Kirk Creed for the first time at this year’s For the Love of Craft exhibition and talk at the Cre8ery. His eloquent, thoughtful, and down-to-earth description of life and work was enlivening… the way he spoke about his ceramic practice, about his relationship to the land and his involvement in every last detail of the work (from cutting his own wood for the firing) was lovely. Hearing Kirk talk confirmed my long-held suspicion that wood-firers have something very special going on!
We’re happy to report that Kirk is still making pots, and his studio will be open as part of the Interlake Wave Tour set for June 8 and 9, 2013. In the meanwhile, check out these photos of Kirk and his work from the MCC archives (please click on the photo for a larger version).
