Casa Artist Residency – Lethbridge

The residency program provides an opportunity for artists from all disciplines to pursue their own work in a supportive, community-based atmosphere. It is open to artists from all backgrounds and at any stage in their development, including recent high school graduates, amateurs, and emerging or established professionals. Two artists may make a joint application if they are interested in a collaborative project. Residencies will typically range from a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 6 weeks. Casa studio space will be provided free of charge to artists during their residency. Artists will be responsible for providing their own working materials. Funding for travel, lodging, and per diems are also the responsibility of the artist.
Available Residency facilities include: (depending on artists’ media/area of interest):

  • 2D studio, including print making facilities;
  • 3D studio, including woodworking equipment, pottery wheels, and kilns;
  • Textile Studio;
  • Dance studio;
  • Community Room/Blackbox Rehearsal

Special consideration will be given to applicants willing/able to:

  • Provide a public artist’s talk;
  • Provide a class, workshop, or demonstration in your area of expertise;
  • Or function as a part-time technician in one of the above mentioned facilities.

CASA will take reproduction quality jpegs or video of works produced during the residency for a program record and publicity purposes. The artist retains all copyright over their work.
Artists may also concurrently apply to the CASA gallery or book performance space to present the work produced during the residency.  (Artists should indicate whether or not you are doing so on the application form).  Acceptance into the residency program does not guarantee an exhibition with the gallery or availability of performance space.
If you are at the beginning of your career, and have no experience with residency applications, we look forward to offering you the opportunity to develop these skills with our guidance and support.
