Administrative and Programme Assistant, Manitoba Craft Council

Hours: 14 hours weekly
Wage: $16/hour
Term: 52 week term beginning in early September 2015 with possibility of renewal

Context
The Manitoba Craft Council (MCC) is a member-centered, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting contemporary craft in Manitoba for over 35 years. The ideal candidate for this new position will have proven administrative/organizational skills and a passion for contemporary craft. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively, think creatively, and demonstrate professionalism. They “play well with others” and enjoy the behind the scenes tasks that keep an organization running smoothly and efficiently. Simply put, they will make our lives easier.
This position is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a thriving arts organization during a period of exciting growth and change.  Together with a part-time Programme Coordinator, the Administrative and Programme Assistant will work towards MCC’s mandate of promoting, supporting and advocating for contemporary craft in Manitoba.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the Administrative and Programme Assistant will be responsible for:
-implementing and promoting MCC’s programming activities including:              exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, etc.
-day to day operational and office management tasks including financial tracking
-providing administrative support to the Programme Coordinator and MCC Board
-responding to general phone and email inquiries
-production of the bi-weekly e-news
-updating website and social media
-processing and tracking new memberships and renewals
-other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-good organizational and office management skills
-excellent oral and written communication skills
-self-directed and collaborative
-proficiency with Excel, Word, and Quickbooks in a MAC environment
-able to work to deadlines
-able to work varying hours including some evenings and weekends
-appreciation of the role of craft and visual arts in the community
