THE NELLIE MCLUNG FOUNDATION ARTS LEGACY AWARD

Arts Legacy Award
November 1, 2015- December 7, 2015
Deadline December 7, 2015

PURPOSE

Nellie McClung was a social innovator who challenged the thinking of a generation and empowered Canadian women. Her creative efforts ranged through humanitarian endeavours, oratory, and writing. To honour the vision of Nellie McClung, and in recognition of the contributions women make to social justice through the arts, the Nellie McClung Foundation announces the second competition for the biennial Nellie McClung Foundation Arts Legacy Award.

AWARD DETAILS

The Award of $2000 recognizes a woman who is emerging in her artistic practice, or a collective of emerging women artists, whose artistic work seeks to engage with community in social justice issues.
The Nellie McClung Foundation is working in partnership with the Manitoba Arts Council to administer the Award.
The Award will be given to assist in the development of new work. The work must be completed within two years. The award decision will be based on assessment according to the published purpose of the award: to support artistic work that engages with community in social justice issues. One award will be made. The deadline date is December 7, 2015. The Award decision will be announced to all nominators and applicants by January 28, 2016, and posted on the website of the Nellie McClung Foundation and/or the Manitoba Arts Council.
Once the Award is announced, a cheque for $2000 will be issued to the artist. A brief final report when the work is finished is required to be submitted to the Nellie McClung Foundation.
