Craft ED :: Janet Morton

CraftED -thinking through craft *
The Manitoba Craft Council, in partnership with MAWA, is excited to bring Janet Morton to Winnipeg to present her work.
Thursday, March 31 at 7pm
611 Main St. (MAWA)

Janet Morton has exhibited extensively throughout Canada and abroad. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her work, that playfully and critically examines our relationship to the natural world and everyday objects.
Since 1992, Morton has used knitting and sewing symbolically in her work as blatant low-tech metaphors. By using stereotypically domestic techniques and recycled materials, Morton explores issues of consumption and how “value” is assigned to objects and time investment.
Morton lives and works in Guelph and is represented by Paul Petro Contemporary Art in Toronto.
MCC is also pleased invite members to apply for a studio visit with Janet Morton. View the details to apply here.
*CraftED is a series of artist talks that engage the larger context of contemporary craft.
