METALLOphone: BONDS- LITHUANIA

The contemporary metal art biennial, “METALLOphone”, started five years ago. In 2014, fifty artists from twenty countries were represented. This year, the event returs with a new mission – to connect different artists around the world who speak one identical metal language.

METALLOphone: BONDS

The major factor in the biennial “METALLOphone: bonds“ 2016‘s program context becomes the metal bond that destroys big distances between different cultures, countries and people. Like a unifying  language,  metal  not  only  connects the artists throughout the world, but at the same time, through creative process, peculiarly objectifies an intangible bond existing between the creator and the environment. Every person sees the world in their own way, describes different phenomena in their own words, so the bonds, which are given meaning by the metal with gathered medial qualities, become authentic, unique stories of the artists. The biennial invites the artists to capture their bond with metal and then through metal – with the world not only in the works, but also in a short following text.

The “METALLOphone: bonds” 2016 will include a new program – online international lecture cycle. Speakers from various countries around the globe and different schools will share their knowledge and observations about the contemporary metal art creation, movements and technologies as well as ancient traditions and conceptual perspective combined in art.
