CRAFTING CONSCIENCE: ALBERTA

CRAFTING CONSCIENCE

Challenging fine craft that makes a social statement

ENTRY DEADLINE: MAY 10, 2016

Exhibition Dates: July 9 to October 1, 2016 – ACC Feature Gallery
Do you create fine craft that speaks out? Does your work make a statement? Do you express social, political, environmental or other beliefs in craft form?
From the original guilds, through utopian societies, arts and craft movements, hippy communes, to craftivism, there is a long tradition of craftspeople making both craft work and radical statements. This exhibition will investigate contemporary fine craft expressions of social, political, environmental, anti-consumer, feminist, ethnic or racial, live local, fair trade, or other themes of protest or reform.
This is an open call exhibition. Submit images of your best and more recent work, along with a short statement about the social content found in your work. Work will be selected on its merit and its connection to the exhibition theme.
*Note – work must be created in Canada
