2017 CONFERENCE, M16 ARTSPACE: CANBERRA

M16 is a not-for-profit incorporated association that has supported professional arts practice and community arts since 1985 (formerly as Kingston Art Space and Leichhardt Street Studios). It provides working space, exhibitions and arts development opportunities to artists, arts organisations and the community.
M16 is located at the Blaxland Centre in Griffith. As Canberra’s largest independent visual arts centre M16 serves a diverse community of arts practitioners and arts audiences. Studios are an important part of the facility, and offer a unique creative environment for practising artists.
27 non-residential studios are available for rent by visual artists and creative practitioners working in related fields. They range in size from 15 to 60 square metres and are designed to cater for diverse art practices.
All visual artists or creative practitioners working in related areas can apply.
This includes:

  • > Individual artists (professional, emerging, recreational or student artists)
  • > Pairs or groups of artists proposing share-studio arrangements
  • > Arts businesses
  • > Non-profit arts organisations

Please note: M16 studios are not suitable for all art practices, particularly those requiring industrial technologies and/or dangerous chemicals. If in doubt, please enquire before submitting your application.
