KHYBER RESIDENCY: EXTERNAL ACTION MIRACLE

The Khyber Centre for the Arts is offering KREAM, a project consisting of 2 month-long and 3 weeklong residencies with public presentations throughout September 2017 – March 2018. These opportunities are open to local, national or international artists working in any medium or discipline. Priority is given to applications from artists who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ2+, genderqueer, non-binary and/or cis women.
Each residency will provide artists with 24 hour studio access and a setting for 2-4 public presentations, which are open for artists to propose (e.g. artist talks, performances, studio visiting hours, screenings and/or workshops).
2 Month-long Residencies: September 01 – 30, 2017 | March 02 – 31, 2018
3 Weeklong Residencies: October 2017 | February 2018
Deadline for applications: Monday 5PM May 01 2017
APPLY TO KREAM:
The Khyber will accept full applications in the form of text documents, as well as video or audio files (including cell phone and computer recordings) or recorded presentation; whichever mediums are most accessible and/or preferable to the artist. All content is to be attached in a single folder then submitted, online or in-person. We do not accept CDs or DVDs.
Artists who wish to apply through recorded presentation, but require assistance, will have the opportunity to schedule appointments with the Artistic Director at the Khyber throughout April 15 – 16, 2017. Reach out via the Khyber’s contact information below to schedule an appointment prior to the presentation dates.

For all approved public presentations artists will receive CARFAC equivalent artist fees. Living accommodations will be the responsibilities of the artists once applications are confirmed, however – and dependant on funding received – the Khyber will preferably provide additional fees to assist with living expenses (e.g. rent, food and travel per duration of residency). The Khyber will be able to confirm these additional fees by July 2017.
As the Khyber is open to the public, disparate events outside of the residency may be programmed in the space. All events will be scheduled in consultation and with consent from the resident artist.
Artists who have participated in solo residency programs or exhibitions spanning one month or longer at the Khyber in the past 3 years do not qualify for this project.
