What is this prize?
The Jean A. Chalmers Fund for the Crafts assists non-profit visual arts and fine craft organizations and fine crafts professionals in undertaking projects that contribute to an understanding of the fine crafts in Canada via three program components:
research and policy development assistance (for organizations and individuals);
special project assistance (for organizations);
pre-publication assistance (for organizations).

$5,000 – $7,000
How to qualify
Apply to the Council.
A peer assessment committee will select the recipients from all applicants.

Who created this prize?
This fund was established with a contribution from the late Mrs. Chalmers, who left a $500,000 endowment to the Canada Council for the Arts following the death of her husband in 1985.
