Doors Open Winnipeg

Heritage Winnipeg presents the annual Doors Open Winnipeg event, held on the last weekend of May each year. This FREE public event celebrates Winnipeg’s unique spaces, architecture, and history, showcasing more than 90 remarkable buildings, sites and tours.

Doors Open Winnipeg presents the public with a unique opportunity to explore buildings and take tours that may not be accessible the rest of the year. Since the first event in 2004, Doors Open Winnipeg has attracted more than 300,000 site visits, putting our incredible architecture, history, arts and culture on display. The 2017 event was one of our most successful year yet, with over 29,000 site visits over the weekend.

The influx of Winnipeg visitors and tourists creates valuable economic spin-offs in the retail and hospitality sectors by encouraging people to visit parts of the city that they may not be familiar with in the downtown, the Exchange District, St. James, St. Boniface etc. Last year over 500 people volunteered their time.  Heritage Winnipeg works hard to organize this exciting, city-wide FREE community event!
