CraftED Workshop Instructors

Craft is a slow process that is best understood through participation. The Manitoba Craft Council has always aimed to promote and advocate for fine craft and its makers in Manitoba, and we are excited to be offering high quality, craft-based workshops to the public at C2.

The Manitoba Craft Council is seeking expressions of interest from professional craft artists who wish to offer hands on classes at the C2 Centre for Craft.

 

All candidates should:

– have extensive knowledge, training and technical ability in their craft medium
– be effective communicators with demonstrated teaching experience

– be passionate about sharing their knowledge and craft skills
– be a current member of the Manitoba Craft Council

 

Proposed workshops should:
– be in a fine craft medium: ceramics, metal, textiles, books, paper, glass, wood, leather
– provide techniques that align with best practices in media of choice
– show a clear plan for teaching specific skills in a group setting

–  Instructor’s proposals should have a focus on transferrable skill building

 

Format:

– Workshops will generally take place on a Saturday(s)

– There will be approximately 6 hours of class time

– Instructors should indicate in their application what session format works best for their medium, technique and project:

  • 1 session, 6 hours
  • 2 sessions, 3 hours per session
  • 3 sessions, 2 hours per session
  • 4 sessions, 1.5 hours per session

– Location: C2 Centre for Craft programming room (232 square feet with full kitchen)

– Max 8 students

 

Instructor Payment:  $400

  2. A curriculum vitae highlighting your professional exhibition and relevant teaching background, (3 page max)
  3. A brief outline for 6 hours of instruction (1 page max)
  4. A student supply list with estimated budget
  5. 3-5 images of your work (JPEG) that relate to the proposed class content
  6. Image List
  7. Your availability (from the list of options below, please indicate in which months you would be available to teach)
