CALL FOR WORK – Art Quilts XXV: Fleeting Moments

Within the swirl and frenzy of life, there are ephemeral moments that remind us of our inner beauty, our strength, our fragility, earth’s wonder, and the cycle of life and decay. Remnants of debris on a pathway, a faded color on a crumbling wall, a glimpse of light and shape in a darkened space, an unexpected texture, a footprint in sand. Being mindful of these moments and capturing them reminds us of the connections that live eternally beyond us.
Submit your most significant work to this annual exhibition of contemporary art quilts, showcasing some of the finest textile art on display in the regional Southwest. This exhibition will take place at Vision Gallery.
Now in its 25th year, this annual exhibition has grown from a local and regional quilt show to a respected vehicle for contemporary works. The yearly exhibition draws national and international entries and allows hundreds of visitors each year to experience quilting as an art form.
For a $15 fee, artists may submit up to 3 works via email with the subject “Art Quilts XXV” to firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries MUST be accompanied by the following information:
1. Artist name and contact info: Your name, email address, physical mailing address and cell phone number.
2. Images of art quilts: For each submitted work, include a full view and a detail view, meaning one image of the quilt as a whole and another zoomed in view of details you would like the juror to notice. Images should be .jpeg files, up to 3000 pixels in the longest direction, and no shorter than 1000 pixels in the shortest direction. This allows the images to be considered for printed marketing materials. ***Please include your images as attachments in your email – please do not embed them in the body of the email***. Please title digital files with your full name and the work’s title. Example: Smith_Theresa_Cholla_det.jpg would indicate the piece titled: “Cholla”, detail view by Theresa Smith.
3. Information and Description: A .pdf or .doc file describing the artworks which includes: artist name, piece titles, dimensions in inches (width x height only), sale price (or “NFS” and insurance value), techniques/materials used, and a brief artist statement about your work as a whole. Please share whatever will help us understand your particular artwork and how it pertains to this exhibition.
4. Payment: the $15 submission fee can be paid either online at visiongallery.org or by calling 480-782-2695. Submissions are considered incomplete until the submission fee has been paid.
Planning for exhibitions during this unpredictable time is a challenge for us all. We are committed to keeping an open line of communication with exhibiting artists about our plans and policies related to the COVID-19 pandemic. If we must cancel the exhibition, we will gladly refund submission fees. We are also imposing a Shipping Start Date so that artists do not ship their works to us before we are sure the gallery will be open. Additionally, we will host a virtual reception and produce a catalog of the show.
