Historical Beadwork Viewing Sessions

Taanshi – Boozhoo – Hello – Bonjour

The Manitoba Craft Museum and Library invites Indigenous Peoples currently living or visiting Winnipeg, on Treaty 1 Territory, to attend one of two in-person sessions to view historical Indigenous Beadwork, Embroidery and Quillwork. These sessions will provide attendees with the opportunity to review the historical pieces from over ten museums in Manitoba, up close and personal. They include garments, bags, saddles, and more, all made likely before 1900.  All these beautiful works of art have selected to be displayed as part of our upcoming exhibit, to be held in March and April 2023.

These private sessions are open to Indigenous Peoples only.  Registration is required. If you need help with registering, please contact us at 204.615.3951 (Wed – Sat | noon – 4pm).

Light refreshments provided.

A quiet space in the facility will also be available for those needing some private time before or after viewing the work.

Please direct questions to Project Coordinator Margaret Firlotte at [email protected].
