Bookbinding and Image Transfer with Debra Frances

CraftED: Bookbinding and Image Transfer with Debra Frances

Workshop Description:

Explore the magic of image transfer and create three unique sketchbooks.

Image transferring allows for a laser photocopy of ANY image (photo, artwork, handwriting, maps, nautical charts etc) to be transferred onto a quality cover weight  paper that can be, in turn, used to create wonderfully unique book covers.

Sample images will be available but participants are encouraged to bring laser copied images of their own.   Images can be printed onto 8.5 x 11” (or larger) copy paper which will then be cut down to size during class. Images with a good amount of contrast seem to work best.  Both colour and black and white are acceptable.  Keep in mind that the image will be reversed so you will want to flip it before printing if your image contains text.

In the first class participants will learn the techniques of image transferring and will experiment with transferring a variety of images onto cover paper.    The second session will focus on transforming those image transfers into three sketchbooks using simple bookbinding techniques.
