Adopt a Shelf Fundraiser at MCML | Clearing out the clutter to make more room for new stories
You can help to transform our hidden heart – the collections storage room – into a space that protects, preserves and breathes life into our collection!
Since we moved in to the C2 Centre for Craft in 2017 we’ve been so busy with exhibits, programming, and developing our audience that we have not had the time to really evaluate how well we organized this space during that first hectic few months. It’s time for a renovation and a reorganization!
The goals of this project are to:
– Maximize the storage space we have – to make room for new priorities.
– Remove some non-collections items and store collections tools and equipment more efficiently
– Design a workspace where staff and volunteers can work comfortably and with care for the collection
Why this makes a difference!
This is behind-the-scenes work; there is no exhibit to see, workshop to attend, or video to watch. But this invaluable work will help us to do all those things that you love better in the future. AND, it also allows us to continue adding new works and expanding the collection into the future!
How YOU can help!
You can help us by adopting a storage shelf for the year. The shelves in our storage room hold ceramics, textiles, dolls, Inuit carvings, glass, woodworking and more. What part of the collection would you like to support?
For $100 you can adopt a shelf for the year.
- You can do this in your name
- In honour of someone else
- Or in memory of a loved one lost this year.
- And, you can select the craft media you’d like to support and we’ll pick a shelf in that area just for you!
Your contribution will truly support our collections preservation and the behind-the-scenes work that happens at MCML. With the generous donations received in 2025, we will be able to create a functional workspace, develop effective storage for tools and equipment, improve the photography area and make more space for growing our collections.
You will receive a report with a list and photograph of what’s on your shelf. Your name will be listed outside the storage room as a supporter of our collection. And, to thank you all and to celebrate our achievements, we plan to host a reception close to the end of the project when you can visit your shelf in person!
